I think it's less about what you include and more about what you exclude. If you're eating clean, whole foods, and not filling up on junk or eating too many calories, you'll get leaner, which will help your abs show more. Make sure you're eating plenty of veggies, and a wide variety. Broccoli is great, but there are so many others like snap peas, zucchini, peppers, carrots, spinach, cauliflower, sweet potatoes, and more. When eating eggs, don't be afraid of the yolks. They are rich in protein and nutrients, and also more filling than the whites. You might use two whole eggs in an omelet, and then can add some egg white if you want a larger amount of food instead. Also, if you are fairly lean and don't have your abs showing, it might make sense to do more core work, like planks, hanging leg/knee raise, and ball or barbell rollouts to build them up. Hope that helps!

Lots of helpful stuff on this site. At the moment I'm really focused on achieving rock-solid six pack abs. It's my personal goal these days. Do you have any diet tips if the goal is to get a six pack as fast as possible? I've been told that egg whites, oatmeal, salmon, blueberries and broccoli are all important to include in my diet. Anything else I'm not thinking of?

Josh and Liz,<br />Bravo! I agree muscles on women are sexy. To support the aging gracefully benefit, what I’ve noticed is the absence of my “this is what’s wrong with my body” conversation. It’s a boring conversation for both the speaker and the listener. I’ve stopped criticizing my body. I’m so thankful for my health and for my ability to take good care of my body and my mind by doing something I really enjoy – something I’d much rather talk about - strength training!

This article is brilliant! While as women we are so much more than simply the way we look, this article highlight the empowerment that women can attain once they take control of their bodies. It's not about about a six-pack but rather, what striving towards that six-pack helps us achieve mentally and emotionally.
