A test in meal conversions – Chicken Salad

Posted by Liz On April - 28 - 2009

One of the things I started to learn on my journey to healthier eating was that it’s possible to make many of the same fattening foods I enjoy in versions that are healthier and lower in fat, calories, and sodium... Read More

My Favorite Bodyweight Exercises – Part 3

Posted by Liz On April - 26 - 2009

Well, I’ve told you about my first two favorite bodyweight exercises — the push-up and the chin-up. So I thought I’d conclude the series with the last of my favorite bodyweight exercises, and the one I have not yet mastered: the Pistol Squat... Read More

Breakfast Cereal – Healthy? Or not?

Posted by Liz On April - 22 - 2009

I received a gift subscription to Nutrition Action Health Letter from a colleague last year. The magazine is published by the Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI), an independent nonprofit consumer health group. I like to think of them as the Consumer Reports for nutrition and food products... Read More

Escaping from a cycle of bad eating

So, it’s been a few days since Easter, and I don’t know about you, but I’ve indulged in the candy a few times too many! Did you know that Easter and Halloween are two of the biggest holidays for candy sales and consumption? And if you have kids, it’s hard to do a complete moratorium, since even if you don’t get them any candy, they’re likely to end up with some from school or local egg hunts. About Me

For many years, I was a typical American working mom, relying on takeout to get me through the busy evenings, and thinking about exercise but too exhausted to find the time. I ballooned from a size six to nearly a size 10 in under a year. I was fat, and I decided I was fed up. My transformation from then to now inspired friends and encouraged me to start this blog. I want other moms to know they don’t need to be satisfied with just “Looking Good (for a mom),” but that they two can make meaningful changes in their lives, health, and fitness. Learn more about my personal story by reading the \"About the Author\" section and blog posts tagged \"My Story.\"
